Population Matters

Population Matters is a charity addressing population size and its effects on environmental sustainability. They consider population growth as a major contributor to environmental degradation, biodiversity loss, resource depletion and climate change.

The group promotes ethical, choice-based solutions through lobbying, campaigning and awareness-raising.

We were asked to create a series of T-shirts, hoodies and Tote bag designs, focussing on several key campaign slogans. We used a ‘cut-out’ process to create a typeface and suite of graphic elements, cutting shapes out of paper and re-tracing to retain a distinct hand-made protest aesthetic.

Population Matters is a UK based charity campaigning internationally. Their patrons include Sir David Attenborough, Dr Jane Goodall, Chris Packham, Leilani Münter, Jonathan Porritt, Sara Parkin and Gordon Bachanan. They recently delivered a petition to COP26 President Alok Sharma, urging him to ensure that empowering population solutions are included in the upcoming climate talks in Glasgow.

Population Matters clothing is made from certified 100% organic cotton, printed in the UK and ethically made in a wind-powered factory. To see the full range visit the Population Matters Teemills page.
