The Catapult works with companies that are focused on exploiting the opportunities created by the need to transform global energy systems; not only playing a part in accelerating technology based solutions, but also engaging with Government to address the market mechanisms and business models that will be required to enable such solutions.
Working with Allegory Agency the project was completed ahead of an official launch of the Catapult’s new offices at Cannon House in Birmingham city centre. Our brief was to create a language that would help ESC better communicate with a diverse audience outside the energy industry, including government, policy makers and the general public. The new language is consumer, rather than industry focussed.
We worked with collage artist Michelle Thompson to create a library of images describing the human impact of the energy system, how energy affects our lives and the complex challenges and opportunities facing the Energy Catapult. With a bold contemporary colour palette and distinct typography, the new language is more accessible, aspirational and flexible. It better reflects the collaborative nature of ESC’s work and the many inter-connected demands on the future energy system.
The new design guidelines describe brand, typography, colour, graphics and illustration use. We also designed the Catapult’s first annual report, plus exhibition stands, display panels, slide presentations, web and social media graphics.
