Tracey Emin – Those Who Suffer Love
Started day in town at White Cube to see Tracey Emin’s latest. A series of drawings and embroidered blankets. Some drawings looped into a short projected animation. Big neon quotes about love and relationships.
Richard Long – Heaven and Earth
On a big scale. A series of photographs, installations, information graphics, diagrams, statistics documenting walks around the globe. Massive Gill Sans lettering on coloured walls. Circles made from stones particular to a geographical location – like chalk covered flints from Norfolk.
Contemporary British Art – Classified
Especially impressed by the Chapman Brother’s Chapman Family Collection – a dark and incense filled hall of spot-lit tribal figures on plinths. Some appear authentic, as you walk through others become bastardised with Ronald McDonald faces. Also Damien Hirst’s Pharmacy and a film of an old man talking about his garden by Tacita Dean.
