Sculpture in the Close 2017 01.07.17

Sculpture in the Close 2017 – the 15th exhibition of contemporary artworks held in the grounds of Jesus College Cambridge. Work by 9 artists including Phyllida Barlow, Mona Hatoum, Louise Bourgeois, Rachel Whiteread, Cornelia Parker and Alison Wilding. Some I’m familiar with – Phyllida Barlow currently showing at the British Pavillion of the Venice Biennale and the first Hepworth Sculpture Prize last year; Mona Hatoum at White Cube; Cornelia Parker general election artist; Rachel Whiteread ahead of her Tate Britain retrospective this September; and the enduring influence of Louise Bourgeoise. Other artists and their work less so – Agnes Thurnauer, Alison Wilding, Kim Lin, Shirazeh Houshiary. As always, a great capsule collection of contemporary artists on show until 17th September.
