Peter Blake and Derek Boshier at Pallant Gallery 02.07.12

We finally made it to Pallant House Gallery in Chichester. The Gallery itself is a modern addition to the existing Queen Anne townhouse built in 1712 – a contemporary wing designed by Long & Kentish which opened in 2006. It describes itself as “the home of Modern Art in the South” with an “exciting line-up of temporary exhibitions, an important permanent collection, and a packed programme of workshops, talks, tours and live performances.”

Derek Boshier – David Bowie and The Clash

Boshier’s work on Bowie’s ‘Lodger’ album – a falling figure references ‘The Man Who Fell To Earth’, stage designs for the ‘Serious Moonlight Tour’ and illustrations used on the ‘Let’s Dance’ album cover. Also artwork for The Clash’s ‘2nd Songbook’. More info at Derek Boshier’s website here.

Peter Blake and Pop Music

An exhibition to celebrate Peter Blake’s 80th birthday. A great collection of work including the 2 remaining cardboard heads used on Sgt Pepper album cover, life-size calico Hank Williams-a-like cowboy and lots of original camera ready artworks with print mark-up instructions for bands including Eric Clapton, Steeleye Span and Pentangle, plus key objects from the artist’s personal collection.
