BBC Connected is a new initiative which brings groups of people together to discuss possibilities and develop specific projects. Last week I joined a digital creative workshop at Shoreditch Village Hall in Hoxton Square, exploring new genres and territories that the BBC could move into online. The details are not not open for discussion but in broad terms we were split into groups and given a theme. We went through a few stages of brainstorming, review and edit before identifying a couple of ideas for development and presentation at the end of the day. Each team was equipped with a graphic designer (my role) to bring a design perspective and shape the concepts into visible digital products and user journeys. The working teams were a mix of BBC staff, other media professionals and external suppliers. Its a fast paced and energetic day but very good natured and genuinely collaborative.
